Co-opcracy

Click link to access CO-OPCRACY

In Ken's view, Co-opcracy last published blog was on Oct. 27, 2016 as at Feb. 28, 2017. In a blog dated August 1, 2015, it starts by stating "Ex-Member Here! After twenty-five years of living in the co-op I most talked about, we made a decision to move out."...and this blog ends by stating "I may have departed the co-op, but I have not yet escaped."

In Ken's view, the Co-op Dweller, published 348 blogs dating back to 2009 that are well written and recommended reading.

Background information:

A journal By A Housing Co-operative Dweller, claiming to be living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Co-operative Dweller states to us that "I intersperse my account of co-op living with snippets of my life's experiences outside of the co-op realm."

The Co-op Dweller also states that "Ive been living in housing co-ops since 1983 and for many years was an active volunteer on the Maintenance Committee. I'm writing this blog because there is very little information on the web about dysfunctional co-ops."

"This blog will give an overview of what is transpiring in our co-op and its consequences, particularly as it pertains to vulnerable subsidized members."

It's important to note that the Co-opcracy Site Administrator and its Site Members use only pseudonyms or fictitious names to identify themselves. The Co-opcracy Site Administrator does not identify the name of the housing co-operative that he or she dwells.

Click link to access CO-OP HOUSING INFORMATION

The Co-op Housing Member Information ("CHMI") Site has little activity on the site since November 2010, when last reviewed on January 2, 2015. The site had some 5 blogs posted in 2014, some 6 blogs posted in 2013, and some 7 blogs posted in 2012...

The current non-profit Co-op Housing Sector Model is Broken in Canada, and usually doesn't work because it lacks the needed transparency and accountability for all it's Member Stakeholders.

CHMI Members can post blogs and express their ideas, concerns, and solutions that may help advance the Canadian non-profit Co-op Housing Sector mandate work for all of its Stakeholders.

Opening The Window

Click link to access: OPENINGTHEWINDOW

OpeningTheWindow (OTW) is a Site that shares blogs, resources, and links to information shared by co-op and social housing stakeholders in Canada.

Joy Connelly is the OTW administrator and shares her blogs & Rosemary Grey-Snelgrove is a contributer to the Site. Joy's main focus is the City of Toronto and started working in social housing some 30-years ago doing street outreach and has managed a housing co-op, and played a roll in the development of new housing co-ops...

An example of Joy Connelly's blogs published on August 30, 2011: "Why isn't anyone building co-ops anymore?" A brief excerpt from Joy's blog: ..."I do not believe the challenge of new development is the only - or even the most important - hurdle co-ops face. But thats the topic of another entry."... :: CLICK HERE

IMHO, Ken's CHIE & Ken's Site explains in some detail 'why isn't anyone building co-ops anymore' such as stakeholders' that pander  to CHF Canada member co-ops board of directors and staff management along with very little member engagement AND housing co-ops inherent problems also explains why few non-profit  co-ops are built anymore in Ontario and across Canada.

The Site indicates "Social Housing Needs Fresh Ideas"..."I want to throw open a conversation that can help shape the future of Ontario's social housing."

Ms. Connelly, a good starting point would be to end the silence of poor or bad governance and management at CHF Canada member housing co-ops!

Joy welcomes contributions from anyone who has ideas to help social housing reach its full potential.
